What does Spindle require of onboarded substitutes?
Spindle substitutes must meet the following criteria:
• At least 6 months of of school-based experience, especially with special education populations.
• Valid state licensure or certification in their respective fields.
• Completion of a credentialing process that typically takes 1–3 weeks depending on state and school requirements.
Where do I start?
Districts can begin by visiting Spindle’s “For Schools” page and submitting a Request Coverage form. Spindle specializes in special education staffing and will match your needs with qualified professionals.
How do we notify you of an absence?
You can notify Spindle of an absence by submitting a request through its platform or contacting your Spindle representative directly. Substitutes are available for on-demand coverage, including last-minute needs.
How do I get notified when a Spindle Substitute is working in my district?
Spindle uses its app to manage assignments. Districts and educators receive notifications through the client representative when a substitute is assigned.

Yes! Spindle offers fast, flexible coverage, including same-day or last-minute absences. Their network includes professionals ready to step in virtually or in person
Can I still maintain contact with the partner brand I have a relationship with?
Yes. We operate as a partner to your existing brand relationships.
What do we do if there is a problem during the day?
If an issue arises during a substitute’s assignment, districts should contact Spindle immediately at [email protected], or their dedicated brand representative to resolve the situation and, if needed, arrange a replacement. Frequent cancellations or issues may affect future assignments.
Will anything change with my current billing and invoices?
Spindle streamlined and digitized the billing and invoicing process. While specific changes depend on your district’s setup, Spindle typically provides automated documentation and direct deposit payments, improving efficiency and consistent with your current brand set up.
We love the substitute you sent us! Can we keep them on a long-term contract?
Absolutely. Spindle can connect districts with substitutes for long-term assignments. Your representative will help facilitate interviews and onboarding for extended placements.
