When Passion Meets Purpose

We kept hearing the same concerns from schools—general education substitutes were being placed in special education classrooms without the training or support they needed. At the same time, we spoke with countless passionate special education professionals who were eager to work but lacked a flexible, purposeful way to connect with the right opportunities.

So we created Spindle.

We're the only substitute teaching company in the country focused entirely on special education substitutes — and that’s not by accident.

Our team is made up of former educators, clinicians, and advocates who have walked through the halls and classrooms.

We Know What It Takes

We Know What It Takes

From IEP meetings and behavioral planning to sensory supports and inclusive classrooms, we know what it takes to do this work well — because we’ve done it ourselves.

30,000+ Professionals & Growing

30,000+ Professionals & Growing

Today, we’re proud to support 30,000+ educators, therapists, and paraprofessionals in classrooms across the country.

But no matter how much we grow, one thing will always remain true: we’re here for the kids who need more — and the professionals who deliver it.

Meet the Team Behind Spindle

We’re former teachers, school clinicians, and education advocates who understand what it takes to support students with diverse learning needs. Our mission is personal — and it’s why we built Spindle.

  • Lesley Slaughter

    SVP of Special Education Services

With over 20 years of experience in education staffing, Lesley brings deep expertise and heart to her role as Senior Vice President at Spindle. She’s helped scale teams and systems that support thousands of school professionals nationwide — always with a focus on improving outcomes for students with special needs. Frustrated by the lack of understanding from traditional staffing firms, she helped create Spindle — a company that puts special education first, every time.

Lesley is passionate about building partnerships with school districts and empowering the educators, therapists, and support staff who make a difference every day in special education classrooms. From helping a first-time paraprofessional find their calling to supporting large-scale district needs, Lesley leads with compassion, insight, and an unwavering belief in the power of special education.
