Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver targeted instruction tailored to students with hearing impairments, focusing on their individual learning needs.
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the educational team.
• Employ assistive technology, visual aids, and effective communication methodsincluding American Sign Language and other modalitiesto create accessible learning experiences.
• Work closely with classroom teachers, families, and multidisciplinary professionals to promote inclusion and effective learning strategies.
• Offer training and ongoing support to both school staff and family members to empower students in all aspects of school life.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field.
• Current Illinois certification or licensure as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher.
• In-depth understanding of curriculum adaptations, assistive technology, and instructional strategies for students with hearing impairments.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with additional communication techniques.
• Strong skills in communication, teamwork, and advocacy.
