Job Description
Passionate about supporting young learners with unique needs? A full-time opportunity is available for an experienced special education professional interested in making a real impact in an Early Start Newcomer (ESN) moderate/severe setting. Working with TK and K students, this contract position runs through June 4, 2026, providing a rewarding chance to foster growth, inclusion, and emotional development in an engaging educational environment near San Leandro, CA.
Candidates must hold active California licensure for moderate/severe special education and bring a strong understanding of innovative interventions, collaborative teaching, and individualized instruction.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active California teaching credential in Moderate/Severe Special Education is required
- Experience working with early childhood students (TK/K), preferably in ESN classrooms
- Strong instructional skills for diverse learning and behavioral needs
- Familiarity with IEP development, data collection, and progress monitoring
- Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, therapists, and families
- Compassion, flexibility, and patience in high-needs settings
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement engaging lessons tailored to individual IEP goals for students with moderate/severe disabilities
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to foster both academic and functional life skills
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, adaptations, and interventions
- Communicate consistently with families, multidisciplinary teams, and colleagues
- Promote a positive, inclusive classroom culture that encourages student participation and self-advocacy
