Special Ed Teacher - San Jose, California

Make a real difference supporting students in a therapeutic classroom setting for the upcoming school year! A full-time contract opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher specializing in 7th and 8th grade, focused on students in a Specialized Academic Instruction (SDC) environment. This position starts ASAP and extends through June 9, 2025.

Youll work alongside a seasoned team of four dedicated professionals who have established positive relationships with the students. The class is designed for those with significant behavioral needs, so experience working with middle and high school students facing similar challenges is crucial. This collaborative, highly supportive environment aims to empower every students educational and emotional growth.

What We're Looking For:

• Active California credential in mild/moderate or moderate/severe categories (required)
• Direct experience with middle or high school SDC students and therapeutic class settings
• Ability to confidently manage and support students with behavioral challenges
• Strong teamwork skills and open communication style
• Commitment to fostering independence, inclusion, and academic success for every student

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

• Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Collaborating closely with on-site staff and support personnel
• Fostering a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom atmosphere
• Reactively and proactively managing behaviors through established best practices
• Maintaining detailed records and ongoing progress monitoring
