Job Description

Take your career to the next level as a Special Education Teacher supporting students in grades 1-5 in an elementary school setting near San Francisco, CA. This full-time contract opportunity offers a chance to make a real impact on the lives of students with Extensive Support Needs (ESN), all of whom are non-verbal. You'll work with a small caseload of five students, providing individualized instruction and creative interventions to promote growth and independence.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active California teaching credential in special education is required
  • Demonstrated experience or a strong interest in working with non-verbal elementary-aged students
  • Familiarity with ESN programs and assistive communication devices or methods is highly desired
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Excellent collaboration skills with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
  • Compassion, patience, and strong problem-solving abilities

Role Highlights:

  • Plan and deliver differentiated instruction tailored to non-verbal students in grades 1-5
  • Design accessible lessons using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tools as appropriate
  • Develop, update, and monitor IEPs in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Create an inclusive, supportive classroom environment conducive to learning and growth
  • Manage behavior interventions and support students social-emotional development
  • Maintain ongoing communication with families and multidisciplinary teams

This contract position spans the academic year, from August 19th, 2026, through June 14th, 2027.
