Special Education Teacher in Oakhurst, CA

Step into a dynamic special education environment supporting middle and high school students with mild to moderate needs in a self-contained setting. This full-time contract opportunity is for the 2026-2027 academic year, beginning in August, and is located in Mariposa, CA. The role focuses on facilitating academic and behavioral growth for students in grades 7-12 within a Behavior Intervention Program designed for emotional disabilities. Youll work on site alongside a dedicated team, including two full-time aides, providing individualized instruction and intervention.

Qualifications:

• Valid California Mild/Moderate Education Specialist Credential required
• Previous experience working with students with emotional disabilities in a classroom setting preferred
• Strong classroom management and behavioral intervention skills
• Ability to collaborate with aides, general educators, and school support staff
• Passion for fostering social-emotional development and academic progress in diverse learners
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement individualized instructional plans for a caseload ranging from 5 to a maximum of 10 students
• Develop and monitor effective behavior intervention strategies in collaboration with support staff
• Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and IEP goal attainment
• Foster positive learning environments with structured support for academic and emotional growth
• Engage proactively with families and school personnel to support student success
• Supervise and guide classroom aides to ensure consistent instructional approaches
