Per Diem Paraprofessional in Whittier, CA

With flexible, per diem assignments based on school needs, youll work directly in classroom settings providing vital 1:1 or small-group assistance to students who benefit from extra support. Key Responsibilities:

• Offer academic, behavioral, and social assistance to students during classroom lessons and activities
• Work under the direction of teachers and school staff to provide individual or group support
• Aid students with daily routines, classroom transitions, and overall participation
• Follow and implement behavior support plans and IEPs when applicable
• Assist with student mobility, supervision, and, at times, personal care
• Help ensure a respectful, inclusive, and safe learning environment

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• TB test (in accordance with district guidelines)
• Able to stand, walk, and assist with lifting as needed
• All required clearances current or willingness to obtain before starting

Preferred Background:

• Experience in schools, special education, behavioral health, or child care
• Familiarity with supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
• CPI, PMT, or RBT certification is a plus but not required
• Dependability, patience, and a commitment to teamwork
