Per Diem Instructional Assistant - Whittier, CA

Instructional Aide Subs are needed to provide valuable support to students in local schools near Whittier, CA. These flexible, per diem positions are perfect for caring individuals seeking meaningful, school-based work. As an Instructional Aide, youll play a key role in helping students succeed by offering 1:1 or small-group assistance, and ensuring a safe, engaging classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with teachers and staff to assist students academically, behaviorally, and socially
• Provide direct 1:1 or small-group support in classroom activities
• Help students with daily routines, classroom transitions, and participation
• Follow behavior support plans and IEPs as directed
• Support mobility, supervision, and personal care needs as required
• Foster a respectful, inclusive, and safe learning environment

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED (school compliance requirement)
• Minimum age 18
• Ability to pass TB test (per district guidelines)
• Physically able to stand, walk, and assist with lifting
• Clearances must be current, or willingness to obtain them before starting

Preferred Experience:

• Prior experience in a school, special education, behavioral health, or child care setting
• Background supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
• Familiarity with CPI, PMT, or RBT (helpful but not required)
• Reliable, patient, and a collaborative team player
