Per Diem Teacher Aide | Waukegan, Illinois

Instructional Aide substitutes are needed to provide meaningful support to students in school settings near Waukegan, IL. This per diem opportunity is designed for caring, professional individuals seeking flexible assignments where every day brings the chance to make a difference. As an Instructional Aide, you'll help foster a positive and supportive environment, assisting students one-on-one or in small groups as directed by educational staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Offer direct academic, behavioral, and social assistance in the classroom
• Work 1:1 or with small groups to reinforce instruction, following guidance from teachers
• Help students with transitions, routines, and classroom participation
• Implement behavior plans and follow IEPs as needed
• Provide mobility and supervision support, including personal care
• Create and maintain an inclusive, respectful space for all learners

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• TB test in accordance with school guidelines
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and assist with lifting
• Ability to secure necessary school clearances prior to starting

Preferred Experience:

• Background in school, special education, behavioral health, or childcare
• Familiarity supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
• CPI, PMT, or RBT experience is a plus, but not required
• A patient, reliable, and collaborative approach to teamwork
