Per Diem Paraprofessional (Instructional Aide)
Location: Taylor School District Taylor, Michigan
Position Type: Per Diem / Substitute / As-Needed
Compensation: $24.00 per hour

Taylor School District is seeking dependable, student-focused Per Diem Paraprofessionals (Instructional Aides) to support teachers and students across classroom settings. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about education, student development, and creating positive learning environments.
As a Paraprofessional, you will work under the direction of certified teachers and school administrators to provide instructional, behavioral, and classroom support for students of varying academic and developmental needs. Candidates with experience supporting special education, inclusive classrooms, behavioral intervention, or small-group instruction are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities
Assist classroom teachers with daily instruction, lesson implementation, and educational activities
Provide one-on-one and small-group academic support to reinforce student learning
Support students with special needs, IEP accommodations, and behavioral goals
Help maintain a structured, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
Monitor student behavior and follow district discipline and behavior management procedures
Prepare instructional materials, classroom resources, and learning activities
Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, field trips, and school-related activities
Assist with grading assignments, maintaining records, and tracking student progress
Encourage positive student engagement, communication, and social development
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, counselors, and support staff to meet student needs
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Associate degree or completion of at least 60 college credits preferred
Passing score on a paraprofessional assessment may be required for certain assignments or Title I programs
Previous experience working with children, students, or in an educational setting preferred
Ability to work effectively in diverse classroom environments
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of instructional support strategies and child development principles
Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Ability to support students with diverse learning styles and abilities
Patience, professionalism, flexibility, and reliability
Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow district policies
Basic computer proficiency and organizational skills
Experience with special education, behavioral support, or classroom management is a plus
Certifications & Requirements
Valid Michigan Educator Certification required
Successful completion of background check and fingerprinting
Compliance with all Michigan Department of Education requirements
CPR and First Aid certification may be required
Working Conditions
School and classroom environments, including indoor and outdoor supervision duties
May involve supporting students with physical, emotional, developmental, or behavioral needs
Requires standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting throughout the school day
