Per Diem Classroom Assistant | Sterling Heights, Michigan

Instructional Aide Substitute opportunities are available for compassionate individuals eager to support students in a vibrant, collaborative school environment. This per diem, as-needed position offers flexible scheduling and the chance to make a positive impact on students academic and personal growth. Assignments support students 1:1 and may include a variety of classroom settings depending on school needs.

Responsibilities:

• Assist students academically, behaviorally, and socially within the classroom
• Provide individualized and small-group support as directed by teachers or school personnel
• Help students with classroom routines, transitions, and daily participation
• Implement behavioral support strategies and follow students IEP plans when applicable
• Support student mobility, supervision, and personal care needs as required
• Foster a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment to encourage learning and development

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Capable of standing, walking, and assisting with lifting as needed for student support
• Willing to obtain up-to-date school clearances and pass district-required TB testing before starting
• Experience in schools, special education, behavioral health, or child care settings preferred
• Knowledge of supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges is a plus
• CPI, PMT, or RBT training/experience is advantageous but not required
• Dependable, patient, and collaborative approach is essential
