Per Diem Paraeducator in Sterling Heights, MI

Instructional Aides are needed to provide compassionate, one-on-one or small group support in classroom settings. This per diem opportunity offers flexibility, allowing you to pick up shifts based on coverage needs while contributing meaningfully to students educational journeys.

What Youll Do:

• Support students in academic, behavioral, and social development within the classroom
• Provide direct 1:1 or small-group assistance under guidance from teachers and staff
• Help students with daily routines, classroom transitions, and participation
• Implement behavior support plans and follow Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) as directed
• Offer supervision, mobility, and personal care support as needed
• Help maintain an inclusive, respectful, and safe learning environment

Essential Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• One of the following: Active ParaPro certification, a Substitute Teaching certification, or at least 36 college credits
• Minimum age of 18
• TB test (according to district policies)
• Ability to stand, walk, and assist with lifting
• Up-to-date background clearances (or willingness to obtain prior to starting)

Preferred Background:

• Experience in schools, special education, behavioral health, or child care
• Experience supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
• CPI, PMT, or RBT experience is a plus
• Reliable, patient, and collaborative approach
