Per Diem Teacher Assistant | Oceanside, California

School paraprofessionals play a crucial role in enhancing the classroom experience for students who need extra support, and flexible substitute opportunities are now available for dedicated professionals. As an Instructional Aide in a school-based setting, youll have the chance to work 1:1 with students, providing academic, behavioral, and social assistance tailored to their unique needs. This per diem, as-needed position offers flexible scheduling, allowing you to accept shifts when they fit your availability and the coverage needs of the school.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting students academically, behaviorally, and socially within classroom environments
• Providing 1:1 or small group assistance as guided by teachers and staff
• Assisting students with daily routines, transitions, and participation in classroom activities
• Implementing behavior support plans and following individualized education plans (IEPs) where applicable
• Helping with supervision, mobility, and personal care as appropriate
• Contributing to a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment

Minimum requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• 18 years of age or older
• Current TB test (in line with school district policies)
• Ability to stand, walk, and help students with lifting or mobility needs
• Up-to-date clearances or willingness to obtain them before starting

Preferred backgrounds:

• Previous experience in a school, special education, behavioral health, or child care environment
• Experience supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
• CPI, PMT, or RBT familiarity is a plus, but not required
• Reliability, patience, and a collaborative attitude
