Job Description
Instructional Aide substitutes have an immediate opportunity to make a valuable impact in classrooms near Oceanside, CA. This per diem, as-needed role offers flexibility and the chance to provide direct support to students. Instructional Aides work closely with school staff and teachers to assist students one-on-one or in small groups, fostering a positive classroom experience and contributing to a supportive educational environment.
What you'll do:
- Offer academic, behavioral, and social support to students throughout the school day
- Provide individualized or group assistance as guided by teachers and school personnel
- Help students manage daily routines, transitions, and classroom participation
- Implement behavior support plans and adhere to IEPs when applicable
- Support with mobility, supervision, and personal care needs as necessary
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning space for all students
Requirements for school compliance:
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Completion of a TB test per district standards
- Ability to be on your feet, walk, and assist with student lifting as needed
- Up-to-date clearances or willingness to obtain them before starting
Preferred Experience:
- Work or volunteer background in schools, special education, behavioral health, or child care
- Familiarity with supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
- Experience with CPI, PMT, or RBT is advantageous but not required
- Reliably present, patient, and ready to collaborate with staff
