Per Diem Teacher Assistant - Oakland, California

Instructional Aide Substitutes are needed for immediate opportunities supporting students in school settings near Oakland, CA. As a paraprofessional, youll play a crucial part in creating a safe, welcoming environment and providing academic and behavioral support on an as-needed, per diem basis. What Youll Do:

• Deliver academic and social assistance in the classroom, working 1:1 or in small groups, as directed by educators
• Help students with daily routines, classroom activities, and transitions throughout the school day
• Follow individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans
• Encourage student participation and engagement in a respectful, inclusive environment
• Provide supervision, support with mobility, and assistance with personal care as needed
• Work collaboratively with educators and staff to address students academic, behavioral, and social needs

What You Need:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Ability to obtain a TB test per district guidelines
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and support lifting as needed
• Current background clearances or willingness to obtain before starting

Preferred Experience:

• Previous work in a school, special education, child care, or behavioral health role
• Experience supporting students with autism, special needs, or behavioral challenges
• Familiarity with CPI, PMT, or RBT (helpful, but not required)
• Dependable, patient, and cooperative approach
