Job Description

Instructional Aide Substitutes are needed to provide essential support for students in a dynamic, school-based environment near Long Beach, CA. This per diem position offers flexible opportunities for passionate professionals ready to make a differencechoose the assignments that fit your schedule while contributing meaningfully to student growth. In this role, youll provide direct assistance to students, often in a 1:1 or small group capacity, ensuring they thrive academically, behaviorally, and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students academic, behavioral, and social development in classroom settings.
  • Provide individualized or small-group assistance as directed by teaching staff.
  • Help students with daily routines, transitions, and classroom participation.
  • Implement behavior support plans and follow IEPs as needed.
  • Assist with supervision, mobility support, and personal care as applicable.
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum age: 18 years old
  • Ability to stand, walk, and assist with lifting as needed
  • Completed or willing to obtain current TB test and required clearances before starting

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior work in school, special education, behavioral health, or child care settings
  • Experience supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
  • Familiarity with CPI, PMT, or RBT practices is a plus (not required)
  • Demonstrated reliability, patience, and a team-oriented attitude
