Per Diem Teacher Assistant - Independence, Missouri

Instructional aide substitute positions are now open for dedicated paraprofessionals looking for meaningful and flexible school-based work near Independence, MO. In this per diem, as-needed role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by providing essential 1:1 support to students, working closely within a structured and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support students both academically and behaviorally under classroom teacher guidance
• Provide individualized or small-group assistance based on student and staff direction
• Assist students with classroom routines, transitions, and daily participation
• Implement behavior support strategies and follow student IEPs when required
• Support student supervision, mobility, and personal care needs
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom atmosphere

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• TB test (per district requirements)
• Educator certification
• Ability to stand, walk, and occasionally assist with lifting
• Ability to secure or maintain up-to-date background clearances

Preferred Experience:

• Previous work in schools, special education, behavioral health, or childcare settings
• Direct support for students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
• Experience with CPI, PMT, or RBT is valued but not required
• Reliable, patient, and team-oriented approach
