Job Description

Support students' academic, behavioral, and social growth as a Paraprofessional in a flexible, school-based role located in Independence, MO. This per diem position offers the opportunity to provide 1:1 or small-group assistance in structured classroom settings, helping students with daily routines, transitions, and participation while supporting individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior support strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic, behavioral, and social support to students, including 1:1 and small-group assistance
  • Assist with daily routines, classroom transitions, and mobility or personal care needs as necessary
  • Implement behavior support plans and follow IEPs under teacher and staff direction
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment
  • Support student supervision and behavior management throughout the school day

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Active ParaPro certification, Substitute Teaching certification, or at least 36 college credits
  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Current TB test per district guidelines
  • Ability to stand, walk, and assist with lifting when needed
  • Current clearances or willingness to obtain them prior to starting

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior work in schools, special education, behavioral health, or child care
  • Experience supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
  • CPI, PMT, or RBT certification is a plus
  • Reliability, patience, and a collaborative team approach
