Per Diem Special Education Paraprofessional in Elgin, IL

Responsibilities include:

• Providing 1:1 or small-group assistance to students, as directed by teachers and school staff
• Supporting academic, behavioral, and social participation in classroom activities
• Assisting students with routines, transitions, and classroom involvement
• Implementing behavior support plans and adhering to IEPs when applicable
• Helping with mobility, supervision, and personal care as needed
• Maintaining a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements for school compliance:

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• Ability to obtain/maintain current TB test and necessary clearances
• Capable of standing, walking, and assisting with lifting as needed Preferred background includes:
• Experience in a school, childcare, special education, or behavioral health setting
• Background supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
• CPI, PMT, or RBT credentials (helpful, but not mandatory)
• Patient, reliable, and a collaborative approach to teamwork
