Per Diem Teacher Assistant - Elgin, Illinois

As an Instructional Aide, youll play an essential part in fostering a positive classroom atmosphere, making a daily impact by helping students succeed both academically and socially. Key Responsibilities:

• Provide academic, social, and behavioral support to students during class
• Offer 1:1 or small group assistance as directed by school staff
• Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and active participation
• Implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior support plans when needed
• Monitor student safety and facilitate mobility and personal care
• Foster a respectful and inclusive learning environment

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• PEL License
• Minimum 18 years of age
• TB test per district requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, and help with lifting as needed
• Current background clearances or willingness to obtain them

Preferred Experience:

• Previous work in schools, special education, behavioral health, or child care
• Familiarity supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
• Experience with CPI, PMT, or RBT is a plus
• Patient, dependable, and team-focused attitude
