Per Diem Instructional Assistant - Detroit, MI

Assignments are available as needed, based on school coverage requirements.

In this position, you will:

• Support students with academic, behavioral, and social needs in classroom settings
• Work directly with students 1:1 or in small groups, following the guidance of teachers and staff
• Assist learners throughout daily routines, transitions, and classroom activities
• Carry out behavior support strategies and follow individualized education plans (IEPs) as required
• Provide supervision, mobility support, and personal care as applicable
• Foster an environment that is safe, welcoming, and inclusive for all students

To qualify, candidates must:

• Hold a high school diploma or GED
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Have a current TB test (or as required by the district)
• Be able to stand, walk, and assist with student mobility as needed
• Pass all required clearances (or be willing to obtain these before starting work)

Preferred background includes:

• Experience in schools, special education, behavioral health, or child care
• Familiarity supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
• CPI, PMT, or RBT training (a plus, but not required)
• Patient, reliable, and collaborative approach to teamwork
