Per Diem Classroom Assistant | Detroit, Michigan

Make a direct and lasting impact as an Instructional Aide, supporting students in the classroom on a flexible, per diem basis. This role is designed for compassionate, reliable professionals seeking meaningful opportunities within structured school environments. You'll assist students 1:1 or in small groups, providing vital academic, behavioral, and social support that enriches the daily classroom experienceall while maintaining the flexibility to accept shifts as your schedule allows.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized or small-group assistance to students as directed by teachers and school staff
• Support students academically, behaviorally, and socially, fostering engagement and participation
• Assist with daily routines, transitions, and classroom activities
• Implement behavior intervention plans and follow IEPs when applicable
• Offer support with mobility, supervision, and personal care needs as needed
• Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum age: 18 years
• Current or willingness to obtain school district TB test and clearances before start
• Ability to stand, walk, and provide physical assistance when appropriate

Preferred Experience:

• Background in school, special education, behavioral health, or child care settings
• Experience supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
• Additional credentials (CPI, PMT, or RBT experience) are a plus but not required
• Reliability, patience, and a team-focused attitude
