Per Diem Special Education Paraprofessional in Des Plaines, IL

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver academic, behavioral, and social support to students within the classroom
• Provide direct assistance to students, either one-on-one or in small groups, under teacher and staff guidance
• Guide students through daily routines, transitions, and active classroom participation
• Follow and implement individualized education and behavior plans as needed
• Support students with mobility, supervision, and, where necessary, personal care needs
• Help foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for all students

School Compliance Requirements:

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years old
• TB test required in line with district guidelines
• Capable of standing, walking, and assisting with lifting tasks
• Active clearances, or willingness to obtain required clearances prior to starting

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• Previous experience in a school, special education, behavioral health, or child care setting
• Familiarity working with students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
• Training or experience with CPI, PMT, or as an RBT is beneficial but not required
• Dependable, patient, and thrives in a collaborative environment
