Per Diem Special Education Paraprofessional in Des Plaines, IL

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting students academically, behaviorally, and socially throughout the school day
• Delivering 1:1 or small group help as directed by teachers and school staff
• Assisting students with daily routines, classroom participation, and transitions
• Implementing behavior support plans and following IEPs as necessary
• Aiding with mobility, supervision, and personal care as needed
• Promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom atmosphere

Minimum requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• Ability to meet school compliance standards (including TB test and background clearances)
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and assist with lifting or personal care as needed
• Willingness to obtain/update clearances prior to starting

Preferred skills and experience:

• Previous experience in schools, special education, behavioral health, or child care
• Familiarity with supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral/communication challenges
• CPI, PMT, or RBT experience (a plus, but not required)
• Demonstrated reliability, patience, and collaboration
