Per Diem Special Education Paraprofessional in Des Plaines, IL

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide academic, behavioral, and social support to students in classroom environments
• Deliver 1:1 or small group assistance as directed by instructional staff
• Help students navigate daily routines, transitions, and participate successfully in classroom activities
• Follow behavior support plans and implement accommodations outlined in students IEPs
• Assist with supervision, mobility, and personal care needs as required
• Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive atmosphere for all students

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required
• PEL License
• Must be at least 18 years old
• TB test as mandated by local school districts
• Ability to stand, walk, and assist students physically when needed
• Current clearances, or willingness to complete all required background checks prior to start

Preferred Background:

• Experience working in schools, special education, behavioral health, or child care
• Experience supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
• CPI, PMT, or RBT experience is beneficial but not required
• Reliable and patient, with strong teamwork skills
