Per Diem Instructional Assistant - Chicago, IL

As an Instructional Aide, you will work on an as-needed basis, providing essential 1:1 or small-group support to students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Offer academic, behavioral, and social support to students in classroom settings
• Provide 1:1 or small group assistance under the direction of teachers and staff
• Assist students with daily routines, transitions, and participation in activities
• Implement behavior support strategies and follow individual education plans (IEPs) as directed
• Support students mobility, supervision, and personal care needs when necessary
• Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all learners

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• TB test required (according to district guidelines)
• Ability and willingness to stand, walk, and assist with lifting as needed
• Current clearances or willingness to obtain them prior to starting
• School compliance as mandated by local policies

Preferred Experience:

• Previous experience in classrooms, child care, behavioral health, or special education
• Comfort supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
• Background in CPI, PMT, or RBT is valued but not required
• Reliable, patient, and collaborative approach

Compensation for this position ranges from $19.42 to $30.42. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
