Per Diem Teacher Assistant - Chicago, Illinois

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one or small-group academic, behavioral, and social support as directed by school staff
• Assist students with daily routines, classroom participation, and transitions
• Help implement behavior support plans and follow IEPs where applicable
• Support with mobility, supervision, and personal care tasks as needed
• Foster a respectful, safe, and inclusive classroom atmosphere

Essential Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• Ability to stand, walk, and assist with lifting when necessary
• Willingness to complete TB testing (per district requirements)
• Current or willingness to obtain necessary background clearances before starting

Preferred Experience:

• Previous work in a school, special education, behavioral health, or child care setting
• Experience assisting students with special needs, autism spectrum disorders, or behavioral challenges
• CPI, PMT, or RBT credentials are advantageous, but not required
• Reliable, patient, and collaborative attitude
