Per Diem Paraeducator in Chicago, IL

Instructional Aide Substitutes are needed to provide vital support in classrooms throughout the Chicago area. This per diem opportunity is tailored for those who want flexibility while contributing meaningfully within a structured, school-based environment. Whether assisting one-on-one, working with small groups, or supporting a classroom, youll play an essential role in helping students thrive academically, behaviorally, and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide academic, behavioral, and social support to students under teacher supervision
• Assist students individually or in small groups as directed by school staff
• Help students navigate daily routines, classroom participation, and transitions
• Follow behavior support plans and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) where applicable
• Offer mobility, personal care, and supervision support when needed
• Maintain an inclusive, safe, and respectful learning atmosphere

Qualifications and Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Current PEL License
• Complete TB test per district requirements
• Physically able to stand, walk, and provide lifting or mobility assistance
• Up-to-date clearances prior to beginning assignment

Preferred Experience:

• Background in school, special education, behavioral health, or child care environments
• Experience supporting students with special needs, autism, or behavioral challenges
• Familiarity with CPI, PMT, or RBT certifications is beneficial but not mandatory
• Demonstrated reliability, patience, and a collaborative mindset
