Job Description
Support student health and well-being in a school-based setting with flexible, per diem opportunities available in Waterford, MI. This role is designed for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN/LVN) and Registered Nurses (RN) who are passionate about delivering compassionate care and fostering a safe, healthy school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct clinical care, including first aid, treatment of acute illnesses, and emergency interventions for students and staff
- Develop and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Care Plans (ECPs) for students with chronic conditions or disabilities
- Administer medications safely, ensuring proper storage and monitoring of prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs
- Conduct health screenings such as vision, hearing, and growth assessments to identify early health concerns
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records, including vaccination compliance documentation
- Deliver health education to students and staff on nutrition, hygiene, disease prevention, and overall wellness
- Monitor communicable diseases and uphold compliance with health and safety regulations to ensure a secure school environment
Qualifications:
- Active LPN/LVN or RN license valid for practice in the state
- BLS/CPR/AED certification required; school nurse certification preferred or required based on state guidelines
- Current TB test and all necessary background clearances, or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Experience in pediatrics, emergency care, or community health is preferred
- Strong clinical assessment capabilities, excellent communication skills, and proficiency or willingness to learn electronic health records systems
- Ability to work independently within structured school protocols
