Job Description
This opportunity offers per diem, flexible nursing support within a school-based setting in Rochester, MI. The role focuses on delivering compassionate, student-centered care to support health and safety in an educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct clinical care including first aid, treatment of acute illnesses, and emergency management for students and staff.
- Develop and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Care Plans (ECPs) for students with chronic conditions or disabilities.
- Safely store, monitor, and administer prescription and over-the-counter medications as prescribed.
- Conduct routine health screenings such as vision, hearing, and growth assessments to identify early health concerns.
- Maintain accurate, confidential medical records for students, ensuring vaccination compliance.
- Educate students and staff on topics including nutrition, hygiene, disease prevention, and overall wellness.
- Monitor communicable diseases and promote a safe and compliant school health environment.
Qualifications:
- Active license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN) is required.
- Current BLS/CPR/AED certification; specific school nurse certification may be required per state regulations.
- TB test in compliance with district requirements.
- Ability and willingness to obtain any necessary clearances prior to starting.
- Preferred experience in pediatrics, emergency care, or community health settings.
- Strong assessment and independent working skills with excellent communication abilities.
- Proficiency or willingness to learn electronic health record systems.
